Paul Morphy vs Ross

Updated: May 14, 2021

What do you do after the opening? The transition from the opening into the middle-game is one of the hardest things to learn in chess as a beginner to intermediate player. The opening is usually defined as when the rooks are connected, and the king is in safety usually after castling. This occurs around moves 10 to 12 depending on the opening played. The following game was played by Paul Morphy, aged 21, in a blindfold exhibition in 1858. He won all six games against opponents who had sight of the board! He was the unofficial world champion.

Enjoy!
