“Every chess master was once a beginner.”
Irving Chernev

Chess is a Way of Life!
Welcome to the Armidale Chess Club the home of people who love playing chess. Whether you are a serious player, up and coming grandmaster or just someone who loves playing chess socially we are the club for you.
World Chess Campion Garry Karparov was right when he said, "Chess is life in miniature". All the beauty, surprise and complexity of life play out on the 64 squares of the chess board. Come and enjoy life with us. Make new friends and take your chess playing to the next level.
“The beauty of chess is it can be whatever you want it to be. It transcends language, age, race, religion, politics, gender, and socioeconomic background. Whatever your circumstances, anyone can enjoy a good fight to the death over the chess board.”
GM Simon Williams

from Zach & Lily Stephens ...
"I hope you're having a great weekend! My name is Lily and my son, Zach is a Boy Scout and is in the process of earning his Chess badge! I wanted to reach out to you because the the Armidale Chess site was really helpful!
Zach is absolutely loving learning Chess and thinks he might even join a chess club in the near future! He actually asked me to sit down with him over this weekend to find some more chess resources – his grandpa loves chess so I love that he's developing an interest for this! It's been great to see them bond over it. :) The Scout club leader always encourages us to find extra resources at home so I'm so glad Zach found something he's really passionate and excited about.
Thank you again for taking the time to put the site together. Zach was adamant that we send you a warm thank you. He also was eager to share one of the chess resources we found together:

Keep on enjoying Chess Zach. It is a great way to become a deep thinker and chess is a wonderful hobby for a lifetime. Thanks of contacting us!
